Character Classes Empty
PostSubject: Character Classes   Character Classes EmptySun Jun 05, 2011 10:45 pm

Here are the classes that are available to the players *Custom classes welcome but must be approved before use*

-Mercenary:

-Bounty Hunter:

-Street Samurai:

-Assassin: They have many motives be it money, religion, revenge, 'justice'. or an acquired taste for blood. They have even more ways to accomplish their objective. An Assassin might be an explosives expert, a ninja like knife user, a poisoner, a sniper, a professional slanderer, or even someone that specializes in 'accidents'. Whatever their motive or method; they make a living by bringing to an end the lives of others.

-Computer Hacker:

-Rigger (Controls vehicles and other robots with there mind when connected to a usb port):

-Gunslinger:

-Combat Magician:

-Hermetic Magician:

-Wage Magician (uses magic for Profit):

-Shaman: A magic user dedicated to a certain Totem. All of their powers and spells come from within but are shaped by this totem.

-Street Shaman: Focuses more on the soul of the street rather than complex rituals. Typical totems are rat, dog, cat, and other city dwellers.

-Eco Shaman:

-PSI Op or Psychic Operative [Government soldier able to use psychic abilities as a weapon along with guns]:

-Covert Ops Specialist:

-Spec Ops *Special Operations*:

-Smuggler:

-Gang Member:

-Tribesman:

-Company Man: Also known as a Salary Man, Corp, Working Stiff, Ect. Their loyalties are entirely tied into their working environment. Regardless of what it is they actually do for the company. These individuals are usually sworn in or bound by long term contracts. It isn't unknown for their families and homes to be on company provided residences.

Now who would seriously want to practically be a serf? Those that want a comfortable working environment with safety for their families and guaranteed food on the table. In the case of creating a company man it's almost as important to flesh out the company it's working for as the individual. Much of his/her choices, beliefs, and interactions will be tied into the corporation that they work for.

These individuals can make use of company resources; how much depends much on their personal authority and what the actions mean to the company. They always have a fall back position however failure or waste of company resources can result in demotion or under extreme circumstances it's possible for the individual to be fired or even killed.

-Fixer (Combination of a mechanic and soldier *non military*):

-Knight:

-Thief:

-Detective:

-Bodyguard:

-Cleric:

-Dragon Rider:

-Sword master:

-Weapon Engineer:

-Scientist:

-Inventor:

-Beast Tamer:

Character Classes Empty
PostSubject: Re: Character Classes   Character Classes EmptyMon Jun 06, 2011 2:34 pm

What is a p.s.i. op? Using three letter acronyms only works if your in a specific setting. Yes your basing this at least partially off of shadowrun. No not everyone has played it. I've played Shadowrun and I don't even know what that is.

Can we make this simpler? There are 22 character classes at the moment. Why not use the same setup as you did with the races? Consistency is always a bonus. Example.

ex.
Shaman: A magic user dedicated to a certain Totem. All of their powers and spells come from within but are shaped by this totem.
-Street Shaman Focuses more on the soul of the street rather than complex rituals. Typical totems are rat, dog, cat, and other city dwellers.

Along with a description perhaps include limitations. By going street shaman for instance the character doesn't have access to a shamanic circle for assistance. Street shamans tend to be loners and self taught. Whereas classical shamans often have a mentor or are part of a larger organization.

Very well; just keep in mind it might take me a week or two. I have other charges on my time. I rarely have time to do everything I need to get done in a day as it is.

Character Classes Empty
PostSubject: Re: Character Classes   Character Classes EmptyTue Jun 07, 2011 1:03 am

Class is a funny word; one with many meanings. In this case Class isn't refering to street trash, working men, or idle rich. Rather it's aimed at the proposed characters Role in the story.

What does your character do? How does it make a living? How does it's life style affect how society views the character?

Success is pre-determined by the writer when the character is created. Whether it be a mercenary down on his luck and taking any job he can find. Or one that is highly successful and contracts out of a larger firm/guild. However it's your actions within the story that often change how your character is perceived over the long term.

Some roles are best handled as part of a larger organization. The successful mercenary might take independent contracts occasionally; however it's more likely he works as part of a larger team. It's harder to be successful as an independent without outside support.

Suggested Classes

(Combat Oriented)

Assassin: They have many motives be it money, religion, revenge, 'justice'. or an acquired taste for blood.

Example: Jason Stratham in 'The Mechanic'.

Mercenary
Bounty Hunter
Street Samurai
Gunslinger
Gang Member
Tribesman
Knight

(Magic Oriented)
Combat Mage
Hermetic Mage
Wage Mage (uses magic for Profit)
Shaman
Street Shaman
PSI Op or psychic Operative [Government soldier able to use psychic abilities as a weapon along with guns]

(Work Oriented)
Company Man
Fixer (Combination of a mechanic and soldier*non military)
Decker (computer hacker)
Rigger (Controls vehicles and other robots with their mind when connected to a usb port)
Detective
Bodyguard
Thief

Character Classes Empty
PostSubject: Re: Character Classes   Character Classes EmptyMon Aug 08, 2011 4:15 pm

So yeah... 'Month's later'. I had agreed to write up some character template suggests. I wrote most of them... I even linked youtube clips with relevant vids one shot quotes and the like. Unfortunately I never did get around to posting them or finishing the project. Frankly I kind of forgot about it. About two weeks ago in the process of closing my bedroom window I stepped on my flash drive getting back down off my bed. Which completely fragged all the writing I've done in the last 3-4 months. So now I'm just going to hammer them out one or two at a time. It'll take more posts but I can consolidate later. At least that way I won't lose everything again. It's a long term project thus low on priority list. Took me this long to get back around to it.

So yeah I'm just going to grab a class I feel like writing a description for at the time and write it. Hopefully if I keep pecking away at the stack eventually it will go away. If I'm feeling particularly energetic or remember a search as I write I might drop one of the links I'd dug out before.

~

Company Man

Also known as a Salary Man, Corp, Working Stiff, Ect.

~

Anyway see you again soon; hopefully with another class. Likely it will be the 'Swordsman'. Who due to the fluctuations in time has had something of a revival. Especially in the time pockets where guns don't seem to work all that well. Or something like that...
